The Milwaukee Brewers are hoping to get back to the playoffs in 2024.
After winning the NL Central last season, the Brewers got swept in the Wild Card round by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
It was clear the Brewers needed to make some changes to improve their roster.
One player who some thought could be available this offseason is former Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes.
The 2024 season is the final one for Burnes under team control.
He will be an unrestricted free agent after this year.
Still, the Brewers have no plans to move him.
According to B/R Walk-Off via Bob Nightengale, the Brewers are expected to keep Burnes.

If the Brewers think they are World Series contenders, this move makes sense.
Yet on paper, they do not look like World Series contenders.
They lost starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff to shoulder surgery.
He is expected to miss most if not all the 2024 season.
Also, the Brewers’ hitters do not scare anyone.
They did not have any All-Star hitters last season and ranked 17th in baseball in runs scored.
Not to mention the biggest loss for the Brewers could be their manager.
Craig Counsell left the Brewers to manage their rival, the Chicago Cubs.
It will be interesting to see how the team responds to someone new calling the shots.
Keeping Burnes seems like a good idea for now.
But if the Brewers start slow next season, do not be surprised to hear his name in trade talks.
