The MLB playoffs are entering the Division Series with the top teams in each league ready to take the field for the first time.
The top team in baseball all year has been the Atlanta Braves.
Finishing the regular season with 104 wins, the Braves have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Atlanta starts their journey to the World Series on Saturday when they take on the Philadelphia Phillies.
That NLDS series is the most highly anticipated of them all.
Mostly because the Phillies knocked the Braves out of the playoffs in this same round last year.
But, the Braves are still seen by many as the favorites to win the whole thing.
According to Bob Nightengale, the Braves are +310 to win the World Series which are the best odds.
The Dodgers and Astros are heavy favorites, and Orioles Atlanta are slight favorites to win their Division Series, per https://t.co/5q6lmjn4bK.
Odds to win the World Series:
Atlanta +310
Astros +450
Dodgers + 475
Orioles +650
Rangers +700
Phillies +750
Twins +900
D-backs +1200— Bob Nightengale (@BNightengale) October 5, 2023
Atlanta has earned the right to be favorites with the season they have had.
Their roster is loaded and they have the best lineup in all of baseball.
Hitters one through nine can all cause fear in opposing pitching staffs.
The two most dangerous players for the Braves are Ronald Acuna Jr. and Matt Olson.
Acuna became the first player in MLB history with a 40/70 season, while Olson led MLB in home runs with 54.
But, if this team has a weakness it is with their pitching staff.
Spencer Strider is their ace but even he has struggled at points this year.
Plus, the Phillies had Strider’s number in last year’s playoffs.
It will be interesting to see which version of Strider shows up in Game 1.
Atlanta cannot afford to lose Game 1 and have doubt creep into their mind.
