The power dynamics in the NFL can change in the blink of an eye.
It’s not unusual to see former head coaches become assistant coaches and vice versa.
Notably, this will happen again this season, this time with the New Orleans Saints.
According to a report by NFL insider Jordan Schultz, former Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley has emerged as a serious candidate to be the Saints’ new defensive coordinator.

Those rumors have been around for the past couple of weeks, and it makes sense, given his ties to Kellen Moore.
Moore, who was recently appointed as the Saints’ new head coach, previously worked under Staley as his offensive coordinator two years ago.
Unfortunately, that didn’t turn out well, as Staley was dismissed before the season ended and was eventually succeeded by Jim Harbaugh.
Staley will now be responsible for revitalizing a once-great defense.
Needless to say, that will be way easier said than done.
The Saints are in a difficult situation with the salary cap right now, and they will most likely have to part ways with several players.
Barring a major turn of events, this team won’t be a contender in 2025.
That said, we have seen young and innovative head coaches achieving success right from the start, and it will be intriguing to see what Moore can accomplish in the Big Easy.
