The New Orleans Pelicans have a bit of a problem on their hands right now.
They would clearly love to keep Brandon Ingram on the team, as he’s been quite good for them more often than not.
Nonetheless, it seems like negotiations over a potential contract extension have reached a stalemate.
According to a report by Brian Windhorst of ESPN, the former No. 2 pick is currently looking for a contract extension worth at least $200 million, and the team has been unwilling to meet such demands (via Evan Sidery).
Ingram might have no choice but to settle for less, as the report adds that there hasn’t been that much interest around the league to reach that figure, either.

However, the Pelicans might not want to keep him around if he’s not happy either.
Truth be told, Ingram is a very good player, but even in today’s market, $200 million might be a little too steep for a one-time All-Star.
He’s just 26 years old, so he still has plenty of basketball ahead of him.
Then again, he’s never played a full season in his career, and he’s left plenty to be desired in key moments.
Ingram averaged roughly 14 points per game in a four-game playoff sweep this season, and that clearly didn’t do much to help his case, either.
He could be a solid second or third option on a championship-caliber team, but it’s easy to understand why teams have been hesitant to make him the kind of big-money offer he’s currently looking for.
