On Tuesday, longtime Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers announced that he will be stepping down, officially ending his stint with the team he helped win four NBA titles during his time in the Bay Area.
Obviously, with such a successful history in more than a decade with the storied franchise, Myers getting emotional in what turned out to be his farewell press conference wasn’t all that surprising.
Myers, who often wears his emotions on his sleeve, got emotional when thanking Warriors fans.
The 48-year-old was a fan of the Warriors franchise growing up, and although he didn’t get to witness a title won by the team while he was growing up, he is proud of playing a part in bringing titles to the team via Warriors on NBCS.

With Myers stepping down as general manager, the rumors are starting to swirl about where he might land after being unable to see eye-to-eye with Golden State on a new deal.
Myers will have no shortage of interest from teams looking to take their franchise to the next level, as he can be a game-changer and will likely get paid like one.
It’s not beyond the realm of possibility that Myers secures a deal that makes him the highest-paid executive in the NBA, which may be why he’s leaving the Warriors, as the team might not have been willing to pay his asking price.
It’ll be interesting to see what teams emerge as potential landing spots for Myers and, when he makes his decision, what kind of impact he can have on that team.
