With a few months to go until the NBA season, news has been traveling at a snail’s pace.
It’s that time in the offseason when teams aren’t very active, and fans are filled with anticipation for the upcoming year.
Despite being a slow time for news, the Portland Trail Blazers and Miami Heat seem to be actively working to make something happen.
Damian Lillard has requested a trade from the Blazers, and his favorite reported destination is the Heat.
In a recent conversation on the podcast Blazer Focused, columnist Bill Oram suggests another trade piece for the Blazers that could provide a massive impact.
“Might he [Herro] be a better fit for the Blazers if he comes and outplays Anfernee Simons?” Oram asked.
“Might Tyler Herro be a better fit for the Blazers if he comes & outplays Ant & you decide to trade Ant & keep Herro? You want options. You want to have talent & pieces you can trade. This whole idea that Herro sucks & Portland doesn’t want him — I can’t deal with it” – @billoram pic.twitter.com/Dg4ouI0aAs

“This trade can give you options,” Oram said.
If Lillard moves on to the Heat, Oram suggests that Herro would be a great piece as part of the deal.
Whether he’s just a sign-and-trade player for another roster or if the Blazers give him a chance, the NBA is all about depth.
Herro has proven to be an elite three-point shooter when healthy and was a massive reason for the Heat’s success in the 2022-2023 season.
All of this conversation could be for naught if the Blazers hold on to Lillard.
Having a disgruntled employee, especially in the NBA, is never good.
If they go down that road, Lillard could threaten to sit out for the 2023-2024 season.
Will the Blazers make this deal to get the best possible return on their investment?
