The Buffalo Bills had plenty of draft capital to spend in the 2025 NFL Draft.
They spent most of it on defense, and while that wasn’t necessarily a surprise, the fact that they waited until their last selection to add another wide receiver turned some heads.
The Bills don’t have a big-name wideout on the roster right now, and that was also a reason for concern last season.
Even so, given the way the offense and the passing game fared last year, Bills GM Brandon Beane believes that the complaints about their WR room are just pointless.
Talking on the ‘Pay The Bills’ podcast, Beane went off on the fans and analysts who called them out for not acquiring another wideout (via Dov Kleiman):
“You guys were b—ing in 2018 about Josh Allen, you guys wanted Josh Rosen, and now you guys are b—ing that we don’t have a receiver. I don’t get it,” Beane said. “We just scored 30 points in a row for eight straight games. A year ago, I get you guys asking why we didn’t have receivers, but I don’t understand it now. You saw us lead the league in points when you add the postseason. B—ing about wide receiver is one of the dumbest arguments I’ve heard.”
Holy Sh*t: Bills GM Brandon Beane goes OFF on people criticizing their WR room:
“You guys were bi***ing in 2018 about Josh Allen.. you wanted Josh Rosen.. and now you guys are bi***ing that we don’t have a receiver.”

The Bills took Maryland WR Kaden Prater with the No. 240 pick after spending the first five picks on defense.
TE Jackson Hawes, who they took in the fifth round, is more of a blocker than a pass-catcher.
Even so, Beane does have a valid point.
Josh Allen won the MVP and posted the best numbers in his career with this WR corps.
They traded for Amari Cooper, but he was mostly a non-factor.
Also, they’re very high on Keon Coleman, who’s one of the biggest breakout candidates ahead of his second season in the league.
Dalton Kincaid is also a perennial mismatch in the open field.
And while the fans would clearly love to have more firepower there, the numbers don’t lie, and this approach clearly worked for them.
