Star quarterback Josh Allen was sacked only 24 times in 2023, which was tied for 29th most in the league.
No matter how elusive a QB is, no signal-caller can stay upright that often without the help of a strong offensive line, which is exactly what Buffalo has.
The Bills are now re-investing in that line, as Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team is reporting that Buffalo is re-signing guard David Edwards to a 2-year deal worth $6 million with the potential for more with incentives.

The five-year veteran is a valued backup in Buffalo, and he has elected to continue in that role instead of testing his chances on the market for a starting gig elsewhere.
Edwards started all 17 games for the Rams during their Super Bowl run a few years ago, and has made 45 regular season starts overall.
Edwards was not thrust into any starts this past season, as guards Connor McGovern and O’Cyrus Torrence stayed healthy all year, as did the rest of the offensive line for the most part.
Buffalo recently traded its other top backup interior lineman Ryan Bates to the Chicago Bears for a fifth-round pick, so it’s a wise move to prioritize Edwards in response to that.
This move ensures that the Bills will be bringing back all five offensive line starters plus their best backup.
That is the sort of consistency that great offenses need, and Buffalo has the luxury of not having to worry about an entire unit as it heads into the draft and free agency.
