One interesting quirk about the rules of the NFL is the ability of games to end in a tie.
It seems diametrically opposed to the whole spirit of competition and the point of playing in the first place, yet it has long been a possible outcome in the league.
Although ties seldom occur in the NFL, it is even rarer for someone to coach in the league for an extended period of time and never experience such an outcome.
New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has been at the team’s helm since 2000, and in total, he is third all-time in games as an NFL head coach.
Yet he has never coached a game that has ended in a tie, as revealed by NFL on CBS.

George Halas, the legendary figure in Chicago Bears history, is the leader in tied games among head coaches with 31.
Curly Lambeau, the founder of the Green Bay Packers who seemingly served in every capacity for them at some point, tied in 22 games as a head coach.
Of course, those who swear Belichick is the greatest coach the world has ever known won’t cite the lack of tied games on his resume — they will point to his six Super Bowl championships.
However, he is still looking up at Don Shula in total regular season wins, although he does have more playoff wins than anyone else, which arguably matters more.
