The Atlanta Falcons are transitioning into a new era.
Out with the old, in with the new at quarterback.
Kirk Cousins has been benched, and it’s now Michael Penix Jr. taking the reins of the offense.
Asked about that, Falcons running back Bijan Robinson shared his honest thoughts on the matter, showing support for both of his teammates.
“For me, and all the rest of the guys, we love both of those guys [Cousins and Penix], we support them both to the max. … We just gotta adapt and be appreciative of both of them. But it’s going to be fun getting to work with Mike,” Robinson said, via Bryce Lewis.

The Falcons reportedly will release Cousins after the season, which will allow him to be a free agent and sign with any interested team.
The New York Giants and Cleveland Browns are expected to be in the mix to acquire him.
As for Penix, he looks like a perfect fit for the Atlanta offense, at least on paper.
The only doubt about him is related to his health and durability, as he suffered multiple injuries during his collegiate career.
Though not as young as some other QB prospects, Penix’s arm talent has always been noticeable, and he will have a plethora of weapons at his disposal, including Robinson.
Whether this will end up being the right decision for the Falcons is something that only time will tell.
One thing’s for sure, though: Having to move on from Cousins after just one season of his massive contract is a blow to the franchise.
