The Brooklyn Nets didn’t have much of a choice when they traded James Harden away, but getting Ben Simmons in return seemed potentially good.
That hasn’t been the case thus far, as Simmons has barely played at all since arriving in Brooklyn, and he’s been far from impressive even at full strength.
Just like what happens every offseason, Simmons teased everyone with his return to the court, sharing videos of working out, etc.
Unfortunately, he was only able to play in six games before falling with another injury, and it seems like the fans have just given up on him already.
He hasn’t, though, and recently claimed that he’s going to be back soon (Via NBA Central).
“I’ll be back soon,” Simmons said.

At this point, we’ll just have to see it to believe it.
Even when healthy, Simmons is a shell of the player he once was.
He’s not eager to shoot and is uber-passive with the ball in his hands, and while he’s still a special playmaker and passer, he’s become more of a non-factor on offense than anything else.
Simmons is also a serviceable defender who can guard one through five when healthy and locked in.
But after so many things that have happened and transpired, it just feels like he’s never going to be healthy or back to his All-Star level, and it’ll be interesting to see how the Nets decide to deal with him and his contract situation next season.
