The Chicago Bears made several big moves last offseason.
They made sure to give Caleb Williams plenty of weapons to work with.
They already had a strong defense, which is why, even though plenty of people argued that Matt Eberflus should be fired, they decided to bring him back.
That proved a costly mistake, as they parted ways with him quickly during the season.
Now, the team needs to address its head coaching position.
It desperately needs someone who can coach and develop its former No. 1 pick into a star.
With that in mind, GM Ryan Poles is reportedly considering a myriad of options, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic:
“The Bears are gearing up for their head-coaching search, and a few big names are already on their radar: Vrabel, Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores, Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, and Dolphins DC Anthony Weaver. GM Ryan Poles has been doing serious homework on these candidates, particularly Weaver,” Russini said.
Truth be told, it seems like the Bears should be looking for a proven coach like Mike Vrabel.
If that’s not the case, they should hire someone with an offensive profile to fix their ever-struggling offense, which also needs a revamped offensive line.
Even so, it seems like the team continues to rely on being strong on defense.
That’s not a mistake, per se, as the Bears have some interesting personnel on that side of the field.
Nevertheless, whenever you have a potential superstar at the quarterback position, you want to ensure you maximize his ability to fulfill his potential.
Whoever they hire will be tasked with a steep challenge.
Hopefully, they won’t mess up Williams’ development like they’ve done with so many players in the past.
