The NFL news cycle never ends and it goes beyond the actual games.
While the 2023 season is underway, front office executives are already keeping an eye on the next batch of talent who could enter the league next year.
They are already assessing the players that fit the winning formula they are trying to build.
In that aspect, all NFL teams have their eyes on the 2024 quarterback draft class, regardless of whether they have a legitimate shot to land any of them.
Therefore, all NFL general managers are already aware of what quarterback Caleb Williams can do.
He is lighting up the opposition as the quarterback at USC.
Mock drafts already hail him as the consensus number one pick in next year’s draft, barring any injury.
But while GMs rave about his talent and tangibles, a fellow Heisman Trophy winner also gave props to Williams’ skill set.
“The kid’s a stud, he definitely would. I mean, he’s unbelievable. Things that he can do, it’s amazing to see,” Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield shared about Williams during his recent appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show.”

Mayfield won the 2017 Heisman Trophy as the quarterback of the Oklahoma Sooners.
Meanwhile, Williams won the award last year and is poised to get it again in 2023.
Lincoln Riley links these two play-callers.
He was Mayfield’s offensive coordinator and head coach at Oklahoma.
Riley is also USC’s current head coach.
Therefore, could the team that drafts Williams hire Riley as their head coach?
It could be the recipe for success a struggling franchise is looking for.
