The Los Angeles Chargers headed into the 2023 NFL season with high hopes of being one of the best all-around teams in the league, with recently re-signed superstar quarterback Justin Herbert leading the way.
Unfortunately for the Chargers, the first matchup of the season was no easy task for the franchise that was coming off an epic collapse in the NFL playoffs last season against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Chargers had to face Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins right out of the gate, which was a fairly even matchup, even though this game was set to be played at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
Even though this game was one of the most entertaining of Week 1, with both teams going back and forth throughout the entire contest, the Chargers fell short with another disappointing fourth-quarter performance.
Chargers star running back Austin Ekeler talked about the team’s continued struggles in the fourth quarter and said the following about this team’s glaring issue, via Chargers Central.

Ekeler blames the team’s problems in the fourth quarter on inconsistency, which isn’t going to cut it this year with the organization investing so much in the team this season while maintaining faith in head coach Brandon Staley.
With Herbert as one of the highest-paid players in the game and the defense supposedly being elite due to its payroll, Los Angeles is expected to be a title contender this season.
However, late-game collapses won’t help this team get it done and could be the Chargers’ downfall once again if they can’t figure out a way to turn things around.
