The New England Patriots will head into the 2023 NFL season with a lot on the line for the franchise, as there could be some drastic changes within the organization if the team is unable to make some noise in the AFC.
After a forgettable 2022 campaign, a lot of talk started circulating around the league, with some believing legendary head coach Bill Belichick could be coaching for his job in 2023.
Belichick made the questionable move to not replace Josh McDaniels as offensive coordinator last year, with the team being content not bringing in someone to run the offense.
That turned out to be an awful decision, with quarterback Mac Jones regressing from a Pro-Bowl rookie season and the team struggling to put points on the board all year long.
In 2023, the team chose to bring in a familiar face at offensive coordinator with Bill O’Brien, which should improve things, but it if doesn’t, there could be an overhaul in New England.
Asante Samuel Sr., a former Patriots player and a very vocal critic of the team, recently questioned Belichick’s worth to the team, via “The Art Of The Interception” on Twitter.

Samuel makes an interesting point when he says that you can’t find when Belichick’s contract with the Patriots expires, even though he’s making $20 million annually.
In terms of being worth $20 million, Belichick probably is because of what he’s been able to accomplish at this point, with no other coach in the league coming close.
However, the Patriots can’t continue to struggle in the post-Tom Brady era while paying him that much, which seems to be what Samuel was trying to get across.
It will be interesting to see what happens if the Patriots struggle in 2023 and if team owner Robert Kraft decides to make a change.
