The San Francisco Giants and the Oakland Athletics faced each other on Tuesday.
It was more than just the rematch of the 1989 World Series, though.
Although both teams are currently living very different realities, there was a sense of unity and solidarity judging from the behavior of the Giants’ fanbase.
San Francisco is fighting for a spot in the playoffs and Oakland is trying not to look too bad out there.
The Giants won, 2-1, yet what happened in the stands might be more important than the result of the game.
“‘Sell The Team’ chants are sweeping MLB stadiums on the West Coast in support of Oakland and its fans,” analyst Danny Vietti tweeted, with videos of fans urging A’s owner John Fisher to sell the franchise in Oakland, Seattle, and San Francisco.

The whole West Coast is united in the same cause: keeping the Athletics in Oakland, where they belong.
Fisher, with the help of MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred, is moving all the pieces to move the A’s to Las Vegas within the next few years and it’s virtually a reality by now.
A’s fans still have faith, though.
In a marvelous showing of empathy, Giants fans joined the cause on Tuesday night, chanting for Fisher to sell the A’s to someone who keeps them in Oakland.
Major Sheng Thao has already talked to Manfred to present him a viable plan to make it happen… in Oakland.
This will probably end in heartbreak for A’s fans in Oakland, but it’s never too late to try.
