At this point, the situation has reached a point of no return: the Oakland Athletics will relocate to Las Vegas before the end of the decade.
Nobody knows if they will keep the “Athletics” or look for another name, but multiple generations of fans in Oakland won’t have a team to root for anymore.
The only thing holding back the official announcement is the approval of the rest of the owners, which is expected to be a formality.
An Athletics studio host, Brodie Brazil, was almost in tears as he discussed the A’s situation and future.
He knows that the league is this close to taking the team away from Oakland fans.

That is the sentiment of an entire fanbase, as well as supporters from other squads who sympathize with the A’s situation.
They just can’t believe that owner John Fisher and Rob Manfred are taking the team to another city.
Fans rarely showed up to the stadium in the last couple of years, yes, but that’s because the ownership tore things apart and fielded an uncompetitive roster.
If attendance numbers were low before that, the poor conditions of the Oakland Coliseum also had a lot to do with that.
That’s on the ownership, too.
It’s a sad ending for a team that won three World Series in a row in the seventies and another one in 1989.
Numerous Hall of Famers and All-Stars played in Oakland and will be forever in fans’ memories.
It’s all they will have left after the move to Vegas is made official.
