The Atlanta Falcons have seemingly been a quarterback away from great success for the past several seasons.
After Matt Ryan left, the team struggled to find consistency at the quarterback, even though they put talented players around them.
The Falcons have invested heavily in offensive skill-position players for the past three NFL Drafts, but these athletes haven’t reached their fullest potential due to their lack of solid quarterback play.
This is why the team made such a strong push to acquire Kirk Cousins in free agency, as he, at least on paper, gives them a much better chance to win.
While nobody can take Cousins away from them at this point, a few concerns have been raised about the Falcons’ acquisition of him.
According to ESPN’s Michael Rothstein, there have been accusations of tampering, which owner Arthur Blank addressed at the NFL’s annual meeting.
“The tampering deal, we obviously don’t believe we tampered, and we shared all the information with the league,” Blank said.

He also said, “Whatever the result is, we’ll deal with it.”
Blank could be saying all of this to cover himself, but at face value, his comments appear genuine.
It remains to be seen if the team did tamper to acquire Cousins and what their punishment might be if the accusations are true.
There is speculation that the team could lose a first-round draft pick, but until the league takes action on this issue, this speculation will stay speculation.
For now, Falcons fans are happy they have a veteran quarterback on their roster who should give them a better chance of winning.
