The Indianapolis Colts could be without Anthony Richardson when the 2025 season starts due to a recent pinky injury.
This injury is the latest in what has been a stretch of misfortune for Richardson and the Colts, a team that has struggled to find consistency from the quarterback position since Andrew Luck left.
Richardson was supposed to be their answer, seeing how the Colts used the No. 4 overall pick on him in 2023, but he has failed to deliver as well as the team had hoped.
He might be dealing with another ailment, but the young quarterback seems ready and hopeful that, when he’s ready, he’ll have an opportunity to keep his job and lead the team down the right path.
Richardson mentioned as much in a recent appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio, noting that he’s committed to giving this team everything he’s got.
“I told coach [Steichen] I wanted to be able to master the offense,” Richardson said.

Mastering an NFL offense isn’t easy, especially for a player like Richardson, who got limited reps as a starter in college.
But, if he’s put the time and effort in like he suggests, the coaching staff could reward him with more opportunities down the line, even though health has been a concern over the past few seasons.
The Colts are desperately trying to become a playoff contender, and having the right quarterback under center has proven to be the best way to make that happen.
Will Richardson ever turn into the QB they’re looking for to bring the franchise into a new era?
