A couple of months ago, it didn’t sound like Jonathan Taylor was going to suit up for the Indianapolis Colts ever again.
But after failing to find a trade partner for him and following four weeks on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, the former rushing champion sounds eager to be back on the field.
With that in mind, reporters asked rookie QB Anthony Richardson his thoughts about sharing the backfield with Taylor, and he sounded quite excited (via Colts).

Richardson talked about Taylor being a great player and how they’ll be able to complement each other, stating that he “can only imagine” what they’ll be able to do.
The Colts have fared fairly better than most people expected them to.
Richardson looks like the real deal, and even though he’s missed some time, the offense as a whole looks a lot better under first-year coach Nate Steichen.
The defense has also gone back to its usual self, and this team could be in the mix for the top spot in their division at the end of the season.
As for Taylor’s contract situation, that’s a whole different conversation, as he wanted to be traded because of his desire to be one of the league’s highest-paid running backs, which was something Jim Irsay didn’t seem willing to do.
Whether that’ll disappear and he’ll just play ball remains to be seen, but it’s an exciting time to be a Colts fan, and this duo could be very special for years to come if they fix that contract dispute.
