The Minnesota Timberwolves had appeared to be trending in the right direction over the past week or two but took another step back on Thursday during a 133-107 blowout at the hands of the New York Knicks, who were led by former Timberwolf Karl-Anthony Towns’ dominant 32-point, 20-rebound performance in his first game back in Minnesota.
Superstar guard Anthony Edwards has been outspoken about the team’s struggles this year and hasn’t held back when speaking to the media after bad losses, which he did once again on Thursday.
When speaking with the media after the loss, Edwards said “We don’t have sh** on offense. We don’t have no identity. We know I’m gonna shoot a bunch of shots, we know Ju (Julius Randle) gonna shoot a bunch of shots, and that’s all we know.”

It’s a fairly accurate assessment of this Wolves offense at times as they are still trying to figure out where all the pieces fit in after the Towns trade.
The other key cogs in this offense have all been inconsistent, as Naz Reid, Jaden McDaniels, Donte DiVincenzo, and Mike Conley have all taken a step back from last season.
All four have struggled from beyond the arc, and if this team hopes to get back to the Western Conference Finals and beyond like it did last year, these other pieces have to get going and find ways.
Edwards and Randle have to do their part to get them there, and Towns’ dominant return is a reminder to this team that it just hasn’t clicked yet.
