Fans got a good look at Anthony Davis of the Dallas Mavericks the other day as he joined his team for media day and training camp.
Some people noted his new protective eyewear, while others noticed that he looked a bit larger than usual.
But the extra weight isn’t anything to be concerned about, according to Davis.
In fact, he said that he is always in this state at the start of the season.
“I feel good. I kind of almost going into every season, because I put on so much weight over the summer, then by the time November comes, I’m usually like 255, 258. I never want to come in at my playing weight, because then I lose weight during the season and then I’m too small. I lose about 10 to 12 pounds very quickly. During camp, I already lost five pounds – all the running and playing. So l’m never concerned about that. I feel great. I’m moving great. I feel good,” Davis said.

Feeling good is ultimately what matters most for Davis.
According to him, coming into training camp with some excessive pounds isn’t a big deal, and he is going to shed them quickly.
That means that when the season kicks off, Davis will be in fine form and ready to produce on both ends of the court.
Mavericks fans certainly hope so, because they know that the healthier Davis is, the better the team’s chances.
Davis was explosive during his nine games with the Mavericks last season, averaging 20.0 points and 10.1 rebounds.
Sadly, he wasn’t able to play more because of an injury, but he is promising that he’s going to be good to go in a few weeks.
He may be heftier now, but Davis says no one should be worried.
