The Los Angeles Lakers and their fans witnessed history Saturday night.
LeBron James became the first-ever player to score at least 40,000 career points.
He’s now almost 1,200 points ahead of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the second-leading scorer of all time.
He’s also 12,000 points ahead of Kevin Durant, the closest active player to him right now.
With that in mind, the media asked Anthony Davis who he thought could be the next player to reach 40,000 career points.
Notably, he chose Stephen Curry for the way he shoots the ball (via Lakers Daily and NBACentral).

That’s a logical choice, but that might not be possible.
The Golden State Warriors star is 35 years old already, and he’s “only” scored 23,254 points to date.
Curry has never scored over 2,400 points in a season, and he averages around 1,700 points in a full campaign.
That means he would have to play for another decade to top 40,000 career points, which would obviously be unprecedented — unless LeBron does it.
Curry is currently No. 5 among active players, trailing LeBron, Durant, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook.
Perhaps Giannis Antetokounmpo could have a better shot, as he’s scored over 18,000 career points, is 29 years old, and has averaged at least 27.7 points per game over the past six seasons.
Otherwise, perhaps we could look at Luka Doncic, who has already scored over 10,000 career points in just six seasons in the league and averages a league-leading 34.5 points per game at just 24 years old.
Still, there’s a legitimate chance no one will ever play at such a high level for such a long time to top James’ record.
