The New York Jets made their intentions clear at the 2025 trade deadline by moving two defensive cornerstones in separate blockbuster deals.
Owner Woody Johnson authorized the trades of star cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday.
Those transactions signaled the start of a full organizational reset aimed at future draft classes.
The wave of activity did not stop there.
Reports emerged that running back Breece Hall had also wanted to leave before the deadline passed.
Hall remains with the Jets despite his desire to leave, creating an uncomfortable situation as the franchise enters a clear rebuilding phase.

Hall was selected by the Jets in the second round at No. 36 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft.
He has accumulated 2,914 rushing yards, 1,470 receiving yards, and 24 total touchdowns since joining the team.
This season, Hall has recorded 581 rushing yards, 178 receiving yards, and two total touchdowns on the ground.
His production ranks among the top running backs in the league despite the struggles surrounding him.
Given the franchise’s shift toward building for the 2026 and 2027 draft classes, Hall’s interest in joining a contender makes sense.
He wants to compete for a postseason spot in the near term rather than wait through another rebuild.
The Jets sit at 1-7 with nine games remaining on their schedule.
Hall represents the most dynamic offensive weapon on the roster, and the offense should be running through him during this stretch.
If he maintains his current pace, New York will face a difficult decision this offseason.
Based on his mindset and performance, Hall appears to have already determined his preferred direction.
