The Los Angeles Angels just shared a piece of relevant news.
If you are an American baseball fan, you will probably be celebrating.
If you love the game, follow the World Baseball Classic, and root for the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Japan, Cuba, Puerto Rico, South Korea or any other country with real aspirations to win, you probably won’t love the recent news.
“@MikeTrout will compete and serve as team Captain for Team USA in the 2023 World Baseball Classic!,” the Angels tweeted on Monday afternoon.

That’s huge!
Team USA is going to love having Trout around to lead the team and show the world just how talented he is, not that anyone doubts he is the best player of our generation.
He has been one of the best players in MLB this year, too, with 24 home runs and a strong .270/.368/.599 line in 79 games.
It’s too bad his Angels are so bad.
With a disappointing 39-53 record, they are currently fourth in the AL West and probably won’t make the playoffs for an eighth straight season.
Trout Will Try To Lead Team USA To A Title Defense
Still, we prefer to focus on what he will bring to the table for Team USA.
The United States are the most recent champions, in 2017, but Japan leads the all-time leaderboard with two championships.
Trout will try to lead his country to its second title, which would tie Japan at the top of the historical standings.
It won’t be easy, though.
The 2023 World Baseball Classic will be played from March 8 to March 21.
Many of the strongest teams in the world are scheduled to participate, including all the past champions and finalists.
Can Trout lead his country to success?
