Last season, when Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout injured his calf in May, he said at one point that he would play again at some point that year.
It didn’t happen: he re-aggravated the issue, and the team wanted to be cautious, because they were eliminated from the postseason race earlier than anticipated.
This time, as Trout rehabs from a back injury, he and the team made sure to keep true to their promise: the slugger will play again this season.
“The #Angels have made the following transaction: •Reinstated OF Mike Trout from the injured list,” the Angels PR tweeted.

They quoted a funny video from the primary Angels account in which they listed “things they love to see”: Fletcher’s hands, Rengifo’s smile, Lorenzen’s biceps, Ohtani’s hair… and Trout’s back.
The Generational Outfielder Is Back From His Costovertebral Dysfunction
Yep: Trout is back.
The All-Star outfielder missed five weeks of action with what was eventually diagnosed as costovertebral dysfunction in his back.
Trout, who has won the American League MVP award three times, is hitting .270/.368/.599 with 24 home runs over 79 games.
He could have fought for his fourth MVP award, but his injury took him out of the race and it’s too late now.
Still, the Angels are happy to have him back: even if they are not really a threat to make the playoffs, fans love to go to the ballpark and see a generational talent in action.
He is the reason why many kids go to the park, and many fans turn the TV on.
The Angels may not be good, but with Trout and Ohtani both healthy, they will surely be entertaining.
