Andy Reid is one of the greatest head coaches in NFL history.
He ranks fifth all-time in wins and has a Super Bowl title to his name as the head man of the Kansas City Chiefs.
So whatever he is doing has been working for a long time.
Having Patrick Mahomes under center helps a lot too, but the duo works in tandem to achieve success.
It turns out the coach had some wise words of advice for his quarterback late in Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills when all hope seemed lost.
There were 13 seconds left in regulation and the Chiefs trailed by three after an improbable touchdown drive led by Josh Allen.
That is when Reid provided perhaps his best quote yet.
What Chiefs’ HC Andy Reid told Patrick Mahomes in the final 13 seconds of regulation: “When it’s grim, be the grim reaper.”

“When it’s grim, be the grim reaper.”
If that doesn’t motivate someone, nothing will.
Added Motivation To Get The Win
Mahomes does not seem like a guy who needs extra motivation to get something done.
Yet even he had to be fired up on the sidelines after talking with Reid when the game seemed to be over.
He came out and completed two clutch passes to get the Chiefs into field goal range.
That kick was good and Mahomes won the game in overtime.

There has been something special brewing in Kansas City ever since Mahomes won the MVP award in 2018.
He has turned around the fortunes of the franchise after Reid spent years building the team into a contender.
All he needed was Mahomes as the final missing piece.
Reid also appears to have a ton of swagger and is filled with great, inspirational quotes.
That makes sense given his status among the greats in NFL history.
Now we just need to hear what else he has to say as the postseason continues.
Will it rival his grim reaper comment?
