The Pittsburgh Pirates have had many great players in the history of their franchise.
One player who stands out amongst the rest is former NL MVP Andrew McCutchen.
During his first stint in Pittsburgh, he was one of the best players in baseball for nine years.
He finished top-5 in MVP voting four times and made five All-Star teams.
After leaving Pittsburgh and spending time with four other teams, McCutchen is back where he belongs.
Unfortunately, his 15th MLB season has been cut short due to a serious injury.
According to Justice delos Santos, McCutchen is out for the remainder of the season with a partial left Achilles tear.
Andrew McCutchen is going on the 10-day IL due to a left Achilles partial tear.
He will be in a walking boot for approximately six weeks. There are a little under four weeks left in the season.

This news came as a surprise to many people around the league.
Mostly because McCutchen tweeted out that he was fine on September 4.
But after the recent news, McCutchen went back to Twitter to clarify his thoughts.
Well, no I’m not😞. Dang this sucks https://t.co/E02vqd8JPD

This is a tough break for McCutchen, who has always been one of the good guys in MLB.
He has a bright personality and makes the game fun.
Now at the age of 36, many people are left wondering if this is the end for him.
Achilles injuries are not easy to come back from, and no one would blame McCutchen for calling it quits.
Yet, Cutch has no intentions of ending his career this way.
Andrew McCutchen: "I’m not gonna go out like this. I wanna continue to keep playing and push through this, let this heal and be ready to go for 2024."

He is only one home run away from 300 for this career.
Even though he will not reach that milestone this season, fans should expect to see him back on the field in 2024.
