The NFL only recently made the decision to add a 17th game to the regular season, which was a decision that got a lot of criticism from the players and some coaches due to the added workload on an already taxing season.
Even though the change to the NFL regular season was made, there was no change to when the NFL trade deadline was, which makes things a bit more difficult for teams in terms of managing the decision-making process on what to do before the deadline.
Cleveland Browns GM Andrew Berry recently talked about the league neglecting to make this change and that the team wants to move back the trade deadline, via Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com.
“We want to retroactively correct the fact that the trade deadline never moved when the season expanded to 17 games,” Berry said.

It makes perfect sense that Berry and the Browns would want the league to make this change, as it should’ve been done when another game was added to the regular season.
This obviously disrupts the way business is conducted throughout the regular season.
It’ll be interesting to see whether Berry asking for these changes to be made will be enough to get the NFL to make the change, as it seems like common sense to do so without much debate.
