Dillon Brooks was one of the biggest stories in the NBA last season.
Brooks primarily made his reputation for being the designated trash-talker for the Memphis Grizzlies, but he overplayed his hand against LeBron James and the Los Angeles in the first round of the 2023 playoffs.
He got into an altercation with James, which backfired and drew the curtain on his career with the Grizzlies.
Many didn’t expect Brooks to find a deal with an NBA team, but the Houston Rockets signed him to a four-year, $86 million deal.
But what’s the reason behind Brooks’ success in the league?
Andre Iguodala revealed the crucial element, via ClutchPoints on Twitter.
“If Dillon Brooks wasn’t crazy, he wouldn’t be in the NBA,” Iguodala claimed.
“There’s certain guys in the NBA that wouldn’t be in the NBA if they didn’t have that crazy mentality… If Dillon Brooks wasn’t crazy, he wouldn’t be in the NBA.”

The driving force for each player in the NBA is different.
Some may want to be better than every opponent they face, while others simply have a crazy touch to their playing style.
The likes of Brooks and Draymond Green fall in the latter category.
They feed off the energy by irritating their opponents, and it ultimately gives them an edge over them.
Looking at Brooks’ career, he has averaged 14.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.
The numbers do not stand out of the box score, but Brooks makes up for that by being a prominent figure in the locker room.
Considering the Rockets have one of the best young cores in the NBA right now, they need someone like Brooks to lead them into the right direction.
Can Brooks fulfill that role for the organization?
Fans will find out over the course of the 2023-24 season.
