The world of professional sports is seemingly an endless roller coaster.
When a team wins a championship, the surrounding city and community are on a high, making for a lot of positivity and excitement.
On the other end of things, when a team, or multiple teams in a given area are struggling to compete in their respective sports, it can be tough for fans and analysis to remain positive.
This was reflected in David Kaplan’s recent comments on ESPN 1000, where he described the current state of Chicago’s major sports teams.
“It’s a bad, bad scene right now,” Kaplan said, also calling the city “pathetic.”

He mentions that the Chicago Bulls, White Sox, Blackhawks, and Cubs are all headed in the wrong direction.
Kaplan has some hope in the Bears, but even they need to prove themselves by making it to the playoffs and going on a meaningful run.
Otherwise, at least in Kaplan’s eyes, Chicago fans could be in trouble for the foreseeable future.
This city, historically, has had a lot of success when it comes to professional sports, but for whatever reason, they haven’t been so lucky over the past decade.
The Cubs broke their impressively long streak without a World Series win, but other than that, there hasn’t been much to get excited about.
It will be interesting to monitor these team’s success in upcoming years, and if they can find some way to break out of the funk they have found themselves in.
