In Week 1 of the NFL season, fans saw a lot.
They saw a lot of great things, but also a lot of sloppiness from plenty of teams.
Specifically, a lot of that sloppiness came on the offensive side of things as many teams and players struggled to find their way.
NFL analyst Sam Monson recently joined the Ross Tucker Podcast to chat about some of those offensive woes.
“Offensive production across the board Week One this year is way down…I don’t know if defenses have caught up in the offseason and actually defense is fighting back a bit relative to previous seasons,” Monson stated.

Monson cited the play from rookie quarterbacks such as Jayden Daniels, Bo Nix, and Caleb Williams as key points for why the production went down in Week One.
Looking at Daniels’ stat line in Washington’s loss at Tampa Bay, it looks solid.
The former Heisman winner went 17 of 24 passing for 184 yards with 88 rushing yards and two touchdowns coming on the ground.
However, he made a couple of head-scratching decisions.
Bo Nix had a passer rating of 47.5 with multiple interceptions in Denver’s loss to Seattle.
Finally, despite Chicago winning in his debut vs Tennessee, Caleb Williams had a completion percentage of less than 50% and threw for less than 100 yards.
Again, it was only week one.
But as the season moves along, possibly look for each player to improve as they get more comfortable with their current team and current offensive system.
