Over the course of the last few months, the only quarterbacks that were getting a lot of buzz with the 2024 NFL Draft looming were Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels, as many believe they’ll be the first three players and quarterbacks off the board on April 25.
With a month left before the Chicago Bears are officially on the clock with the No. 1 overall pick, J.J. McCarthy has become a popular name mentioned as a player that could get taken early in the draft next month.
The University of Michigan product has turned a lot of heads lately and impressed a lot of draft experts, who now believe he could go much higher in the upcoming draft than first thought.
In fact, the Washington Commanders could take the gamble on McCarthy at No. 2 overall, which is a rumor that started to circulate.
Scott Zolak was one of McCarthy’s critics early in the process, but he’s started to change his tune via NBC Sports Boston.
“I understand now the buzz on J.J. McCarthy and why he’s climbing draft boards,” Zolak said. “I was wrong.”

Over the next four weeks, the hype will continue to surround McCarthy and the other top prospects at the quarterback position in the upcoming draft, as players will likely move up and down draft boards.
Along with McCarthy, other notable quarterbacks like Bo Nix and Michael Penix Jr. could make similar moves up draft boards if they start to impress teams and experts leading up to draft day on April 25.
