The Miami Dolphins began the 2023 season similar to how they started 2022: with an impressive victory.
This win against the Los Angeles Chargers is a sign to the rest of the AFC that they are ready to compete with a nearly fully healthy roster.
CBS Sports’ Leger Douzable recently discussed the Dolphins’ strengths, calling them the “scariest” team to plan for.
If Tua can stay healthy, the Dolphins are the scariest team in the AFC. If you ask most DC who is the "scariest" team to gamelan for, it's the Dolphins. Douzable discussed the lethal combination of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, one of the speediest receiver duos in the entire league.
Tua Tagovailoa has started to come into his own as an NFL passer as well.
If he stays healthy throughout the season, he has a chance to enter the MVP conversation, especially if he continues his current trajectory.
Tagovailoa threw for over 400 yards in Week 1, with nearly half of his yards going to Hill.
He has the potential to do this every week, knowing Waddle and Hill are his two primary receivers.
While the Dolphins’ offense is elite, their defense is also commonly viewed as one of the league’s best.
They have solid playmakers at each defensive position, and when Jalen Ramsey returns from injury, they will be even stronger.
The Dolphins’ standing as a top AFC team is largely contingent on their record against a difficult AFC East division.
All four teams are projected to compete for the division lead, which could prove for a hard-fought race down the stretch.
Many analysts, including Douzable, believe the Dolphins possess the necessary tools to handle any opponent that comes their way.
