The San Francisco 49ers were the odds-on Super Bowl favorites heading into the 2024 NFL Season.
Many believed they’d build on the success they found in 2023, where they made it to the Super Bowl but lost to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
At the very least, the 49ers were expected to be among the best teams in the NFC, putting up a strong fight against the other top-tier teams in the conference.
However, given their injury concerns and several other issues, things haven’t panned out for the 49ers this season.
With that in mind, Rob Parker took to FOX Sports Radio to talk about this team, more specifically, about Kyle Shanahan and what he thinks about him as a head coach.
“When I look at Kyle Shanahan… Great, good, or garbage? I’m going hot garbage. People say ‘he got you there.’ Some guys can’t actually deliver all the goods, and you gotta be careful because sometimes you don’t get there,” Parker said.

In Parker’s mind, Shanahan did well to bring the 49ers to the Super Bowl last year, but also indicated that he wasn’t able to finish the job.
Making it to the Super Bowl is a great accomplishment, but when looking at a coach’s career, people don’t tend to talk about how many times that coach made it to the big game.
Parker is skeptical of the conversation surrounding Shanahan and how great he’s been, and in his mind, it will be interesting to see if he’s able to make marked improvements and turn this team around in 2025.
