Two seasons after winning the Super Bowl, the Los Angeles Rams have fallen hard back to earth.
They lost stud linebacker Bobby Wagner and star cornerback Jalen Ramsey this offseason, and many are predicting that despite still possessing talent on offense, they will miss the playoffs this season.
Meanwhile, quarterback Caleb Williams of the University of Southern California is widely expected to be the top pick in next year’s NFL draft.
During the “Ringer Fantasy Football Show,” Danny Heifetz suggested that if the Rams aren’t over .500 by Thanksgiving, they may tank in order to draft Williams and allow him to continue to play in the Los Angeles area.

The Rams still have quarterback Matthew Stafford, who is still apparently a Pro Bowl-level player, but he is now 35 years of age and coming off an injury-plagued 2022 campaign.
Heifetz argued that they need a reset and that a tank season could achieve exactly that.
Williams is going into his junior season and his second at USC after transferring from the University of Oklahoma, where he spent his freshman season.
Last season, he threw for 4,537 yards and 42 touchdowns against just five interceptions while adding 382 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.
In doing so, he won both the Heisman Trophy and the AP College Football Player of the Year.
The Rams went all-in during their 2021 championship season by trading multiple draft picks for Stafford and future Hall of Fame linebacker Von Miller.
Fortunately, they didn’t trade away their 2024 first-round choice, and it could turn out to be a franchise-changing one if they do bad enough this season.
