The Dallas Cowboys have begun the 2023 season with a fast start.
They currently hold a 3-1 record after beating the New York Jets, New York Giants, and New England Patriots in convincing fashion.
While many have applauded their efforts thus far, others have cautioned this optimism.
As Craig Carton recently said on his show, the Cowboys’ upcoming matchup with the San Francisco 49ers, “Will tell me exactly who the Dallas Cowboys are.”
"This is the Dallas Cowboys' true test this Sunday night."

Carton believes the 49ers are one of the best teams in the league, the best team the Cowboys will have played thus far.
The 49ers are currently 4-0, and hold the best record in the NFL alongside the Philadelphia Eagles.
While the Cowboys’ offense has put up significant points throughout the season, the 49ers’ defense could provide a true test.
They haven’t allowed more than 23 points in a game this season, a mark the Cowboys have already achieved in three games.
Many analysts are already calling this the game of the week, an opportunity for two top NFC teams to make their mark.
A win in this game is not only an opportunity to make an exclamation on the season, but it gets one of these teams closer to a potential first-round bye in the playoffs.
Can Dak Prescott overcome his offseason doubters, proving that he is the quarterback who can lead the Cowboys to an impressive victory?
Or, will Brock Purdy continue his impressive win, showing that even Mr. Irrelevant can succeed in the NFL if they are in the right system?
