Luka Doncic is only 24 years old, but he has already captured the hearts of the Dallas Mavericks fanbase.
He is one of the NBA’s top players, a staple of the league and his organization already.
Doncic is tied to the Mavericks until the 2026-2027 season, where he has a player option, per Spotrac.
Some analysts are already looking ahead to Doncic’s next contract, and one has indicated a massive potential deal.
According to Bobby Marks via Legion Hoops, Marks believes Doncic could receive as much as $80 million per season on his next contract.

This would make Doncic the highest-paid player in NBA history when looking at average annual value.
Spotrac lists the largest current contracts in the league, which is topped by Stephen Curry.
Curry’s cap hit for the 2023-2024 season is just short of $52 million, followed by Kevin Durant and Nikola Jokic at over $47 million.
If Marks’ thoughts are correct, this means Doncic would make nearly $30 million more per season than Curry currently does.
A deal of this magnitude would change the entire landscape of NBA contracts for the foreseeable future.
Whether the Mavericks or another NBA team would offer any player a deal this large remains to be seen.
After all, Doncic doesn’t have to worry about another contract extension for several years, as he’s slated to make over $40 million this season.
But, Marks’ comments do bring up an interesting debate in the NBA community.
Is any player worth over $80 million per season, even if they are one of the top athletes in the league?
