The Jacksonville Jaguars are making major front office changes, confirming Wednesday that general manager Trent Baalke will exit after four seasons at the helm.
Owner Shad Khan revealed this decision emerged from multiple discussions this week.
The timing is particularly noteworthy, coming less than three weeks after head coach Doug Pederson’s dismissal and while the team continues its search for a new head coach, with second-round interviews scheduled this week.
NFL analyst Ari Meirov didn’t pull any punches in his assessment of the situation, taking aim at Jacksonville’s owner on social media.
“There might not be a bigger fumble this cycle than how the #Jaguars handled this. Top coaching candidates were never going to Jacksonville with Trent Baalke still in place. Now, after all the top names have turned them down, the team (owner) finally realizes it. What a mess,” Meirov posted on X.

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ offseason has spiraled into chaos, largely due to their initial decision to keep Baalke in place.
What many industry observers flagged as an obvious misstep has now come back to haunt the organization.
The delayed timing of Baalke’s departure has already cost them their top head coaching candidates.
Ben Johnson opted for Chicago, while Liam Coen chose to remain in Tampa, leaving the Jaguars scrambling for alternatives.
The franchise has developed an unfortunate reputation for dysfunction that, while perhaps providing some comfort to other struggling fan bases, offers little solace to Jacksonville’s loyal supporters who continue to weather one storm after another.
