The Milwaukee Bucks will bring Cole Anthony into the fold in 2025-26, providing the team with more support in the backcourt.
Writing on X, Jake Weinbach said the Bucks were linked to multiple veteran guards but ultimately went with Anthony.
Why?
It’s because the team is looking to build a younger and faster lineup around their lead star, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
“Milwaukee has been putting an emphasis on building a younger and faster team around Giannis Antetokounmpo. Anthony, age 25, fits the mold in addition to Kevin Porter Jr. and Ryan Rollins, two other young guards that the Bucks re-signed after parting ways with Damian Lillard this offseason,” Weinbach wrote.
Bucks were linked with many veteran point guards in free agency such as Chris Paul and Malcolm Brogdon, but pivoted to Cole Anthony once the opportunity arose.

The proposed starting lineup for Milwaukee in 2025-26 is Kevin Porter Jr., Gary Trent Jr., Kyle Kuzma, Antetokounmpo, and Myles Turner.
It’s expected that Anthony will provide backup for the guard position.
This is good news because the Bucks recently lost Damian Lillard, whom they waived during their acquisition of Turner.
Anthony could bring a ton of help for the Bucks.
During his five seasons with the Orlando Magic, he produced an average of 12.5 points, 2.8 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game.
His minutes with the Magic have dwindled over the last few years as the team has started to move on without him.
He may not be a starter with the Bucks like he used to be with the Magic, but Anthony could still carve out an important spot in the team’s roster.
Milwaukee currently has two goals in mind: win a championship and keep Antetokounmpo happy.
Will signing Anthony help with both of those?
