The New York Jets entered this season as Super Bowl hopefuls.
They didn’t even make the playoffs.
Notably, team owner Woody Johnson was the first to fire his head coach this season.
He let Robert Saleh go early in the campaign, and things didn’t necessarily improve after that.
Now, the team will be looking to straighten the course of the ship with another head coach.
Gregg Giannotti says two defensive coordinators – Aaron Glenn (Detroit Lions) and Brian Flores (Minnesota Vikings) – are leading the race to get the job.

With that in mind, he stated that they should go after Flores.
Per Giannotti, the Jets cannot afford to have a rookie head coach out there.
Flores already has experience running his own team, and while things didn’t end up well for him with the Miami Dolphins, he’s a seasoned veteran.
Likewise, he thinks Glenn should withdraw from head coaching consideration if the Jets are the only legitimate team interested in hiring him.
He thinks that’s not a good situation for any first-year head coach.
Hence, he should follow Ben Johnson’s example and return to the Lions for another year before making himself available again.
The Jets are a dysfunctional franchise with more questions than answers right now.
From the general manager to quarterback, it’s hard to believe they will have the most appealing head coaching opening in the league in the offseason, especially for a first-time head coach.
