The Minnesota Vikings accidentally stumbled upon a franchise quarterback.
They lost Kirk Cousins in the offseason and signed Sam Darnold to a one-year deal.
Most people thought that Darnold would be their backup.
The worst-case scenario is that he would be a stopgap quarterback while whoever they get in the NFL Draft got ready to play.
Fast forward to today, and Darnold may have played himself into legitimate consideration as the starter.
More than that, he’s played himself into a big-money deal.
Nevertheless, as much as several fans and analysts agree that the Vikings should keep him around, Maggie Gray isn’t so sure.
“If it was my $50 million, I’d want to see a little bit more.”

Talking on the latest edition of her Maggie and Perloff show, she claimed that, at that steep price, he still needs to see more from Darnold.
While she acknowledged that Darnold has finally gotten his act together, she argued that she’s seen much more bad than good from him in his career.
She’s also worried about the amount of sacks he takes, some of which are avoidable.
Gray added that all professional quarterbacks should be able to execute in an offense with so many weapons and protection, so perhaps the Vikings should allow other teams to make that kind of financial commitment.
That does make some sense, especially with J.J. McCarthy waiting in line.
Then again, you don’t want to be the team on the verge of Super Bowl contention and then regress because of that decision.
