The New York Giants entered the 2023 offseason with a few questions to answer.
The future of both Saquon Barkley and Daniel Jones hung in the balance, as both were in search of a contract extension.
Jones was given a four-year deal, while the team decided to give Barkley the franchise tag.
While Jones had a greatly improved season in 2022, Barkley has been a staple of the team since 2018.
On a recent episode of The Carton Show, Craig Carton asked a pressing question about Jones’ thoughts on the situation.
“Where is Daniel Jones when everyone else is coming out supporting Saquon Barkley?” Carton asked.
“Where is Daniel Jones when everyone else is coming out supporting Saquon Barkley? The guy who is making $82 million guaranteed over the next two years is keeping his mouth tight, he ain’t saying nothing.”

Carton added, “The guy who is making $82 million guaranteed over the next two years is keeping his mouth tight.”
Many running backs, analysts, and other players around the league have given their support to Barkley.
Jones and Barkley, at least publicly, have a good relationship.
However, the fact that Barkley’s quarterback hasn’t given him a public nod of support is an interesting call-out from Carton.
Barkley had the fourth-highest amount of rushing yards in the league last year, a large piece of the Giants offense.
Their refusal to sign him to a longer-term deal could lead to his unhappiness, perhaps even causing him to hold out.
While a full-season holdout hasn’t happened in the NFL since Le’Veon Bell did it, this isn’t off the table for Barkley.
Now that the extension deadline has passed, unfortunately, there is nothing more the Giants or Jones can do.
The ball now lies in Barkley’s court.
