Each NFL season there seems to be a few head coaches who are on the hot seat right away, meaning their teams will need to have a successful year if they want to keep their job.
It is an unfortunate part of the NFL but head coaches get fired quite often.
We usually see around five job openings in the NFL each offseason.
So the question is: Which head coaches are on the hot seat entering the 2023 season?
Craig Carton named his top-five coaches that are on the hot seat this season.
The top name on the list, Bill Belichick, is certainly a surprising one.

1. Bill Belichick
2. Robert Saleh
3. Sean McDermott
4. Mike McCarthy

Belichick is one of the greatest coaches of all time but has struggled in recent years.
Ever since Tom Brady left, the Patriots have only made the playoffs one time and have not won a playoff game.
The Patriots ever firing Belichick would be shocking.
But it could happen if they have another disappointing season.
Another interesting name on this list is New York Jets coach Robert Saleh.
He has coached the Jets for two seasons and they have gone 11-23 in that span.
Now with Aaron Rodgers in the fold, there is no excuse for the Jets not to be a playoff team.
Anything short of that will have Saleh on his way out.
Carton’s list finishes up with Sean McDermott, Mike McCarthy, and Brandon Staley.
All three will need playoff success this year to most likely keep their jobs.
The NFL is a “what have you done for me lately?” league.
That is what each of these coaches will be asked at the end of the upcoming season.
