The New York Mets finished second in the National League East, and though they didn’t win the division, they made an extended postseason run by winning two series as underdogs before losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series.
The Mets followed up their postseason run by making the biggest splash of any team this offseason and signing free agent Juan Soto to a 15-year deal worth $765 million.
One free agent who is still available is Mets first baseman Pete Alonso, and one analyst recently revealed which team is the best fit for him.

Alonso debuted in 2019 with the Mets and has played all six seasons of his MLB career with them.
While other teams are thought to be interested in Alonso, DiComo said he believes that the smoothest fit still lies with the Mets.
It has been reported that the New York Yankees are not interested in pursuing Alonso, and other teams such as the Toronto Blue Jays already have a star at first base.
Alonso had a productive year with the Mets in 2024, playing in all 162 games and batting .240 with 34 home runs, 88 RBIs and a .788 OPS.
It will be interesting to see if the Mets offer Alonso enough money to bring him back in 2025 to join newly acquired Soto as they chase the third World Series title in franchise history.
