As the Major League Baseball offseason continues, many rumors are flying around surrounding the free agent class along with possible trade candidates.
Most of the eyes and attention have been on Juan Soto and where he will decide to play in 2025, but there are plenty of other big-name players that could potentially change teams.
While the free agent class is loaded with talent this year, there are also rumors about teams trading some of their key players.
MLB Analyst Jon Morosi names two teams to watch that could potentially make a trade this offseason.
“That Chicago Cubs and Seattle Mariners possibility is very real as we approach the Winter Meetings,” Morosi said via MLB Network on ‘X.’

The players that Morosi names include outfielder Cody Bellinger and second baseman Nico Hoerner of the Cubs.
Morosi notes the need at these positions for the Mariners and also that the Mariners have elite starting pitchers on their roster that they could use to trade.
Hoerner came into the league with the Cubs in 2019 and has played all six seasons of his MLB career with the club.
In 2024 Hoerner played 151 games and batted .273 with seven home runs, 48 RBIs, and a .708 OPS.
Bellinger came into the league in 2017 with the Dodgers and is a former Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player award winner.
In 2024, Bellinger played 130 games for the Cubs and batted .266 with 18 home runs, 78 RBIs, and a .751 OPS.
The Cubs appear very willing to part ways with some of their players this offseason, and the Mariners could be the perfect team to complete a trade with.
