The New York Jets haven’t made the playoffs since 2010, which is the longest active streak in the NFL.
They tried to solve their woes by adding Aaron Rodgers ahead of the 2023 season, but after he tore his Achilles in the season opener, their season still didn’t pan out as expected.
In the NFL, having a solid, healthy quarterback is paramount to a successful season, and with the Jets’ lack of QBs with these traits in recent history, it’s no wonder they haven’t made it to the playoffs in over a decade.
When looking ahead to the 2024 season, Jets fans have renewed hope in Rodgers, as his messaging throughout the offseason has indicated that he will be on the field, ready to make a comeback.
Rodgers is the team’s plan for 2024 and maybe 2025, but they don’t have a long-term option at the position, which they should address in the draft.
Brian Baldinger discussed this at length in a recent segment of NFL Total Access, where he discussed the possibility of the team taking Bo Nix in the draft.

Nix is one of several highly-touted quarterback prospects in this year’s class.
He might not be ready to start in 2024, but as Baldinger mentions, this could be an opportunity for the Jets to implement a succession plan.
Rodgers isn’t getting any younger, and if the Jets do turn things around next season, they’ll want to continue that momentum after he retires or leaves the team.
Drafting a player like Nix could be their best bet, as he could have at least a season to train and learn the hopes under Rodgers.
