The Detroit Lions entered the season with plenty of hype and expectations.
They even sold out season-tickets the first time since they moved to Ford Field, and this year’s team has lived up to those expectations more often than not.
That’s why NFL analyst Craig Carton went as far as to call them the second-best team in the NFC, adding that he wouldn’t be shocked at all if he saw them playing in the Super Bowl (via The Carton Show).

Truth be told, that could be a bit of a reach, as the Lions have struggled to beat winning teams since that Week 1 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
To be fair, he also stated that his only concern about that prediction was Jared Goff, adding that he still needs to see him dominate and play well out in the cold late in the season, but he added that he might not even have to do it at all.
The Lions are a much-improved team on both sides of the field.
Their defense has been dominant, and their offense has the potential to be one of the most explosive in the game.
Also, Goff has shut down all the critics and has been actually quite good and consistent since arriving in Detroit, taking great care of the football and finding his receivers in stride.
Still, from that to being legitimate Super Bowl contenders could be a bit of a stretch, but they still have half of the season to prove Carton right.
