The Philadelphia 76ers didn’t hesitate to pull the plug and let Doc Rivers go after another failed postseason trip.
It was the third consecutive season they failed to move past the second round, and the roster had ultimately maxed out under Rivers.
Now, there’s an interesting list of potential candidates to take the reins of The Process.
However, NBA analyst Craig Carton believes people shouldn’t even bother making assumptions or predictions, as he’s fully confident that they’ll hire Mike D’Antoni.

Notably, it would make sense for the Sixers to trust the veteran offensive specialist with their project.
He’s got close ties to James Harden and also knows Daryl Morey from their days with the Houston Rockets.
If the Sixers intend to keep Harden next to Joel Embiid as he publicly requested, then bringing in his former coach from his best seasons could be a step in the right direction.
D’Antoni is a bonafide coach with plenty of playoff experience and one of the single best offensive specialists in the history of the Association, and he was one win away from the NBA Finals in Harden’s prime.
Nick Nurse, Monty Williams, Mike Budenholzer, and even Sam Cassell could also be worthy and interesting choices for the Sixers.
But their offense was predictable and stagnant at times under Rivers, and D’Antoni could also help Tyrese Maxey continue making strides and developing his true potential.
Even so, perhaps their biggest priority should be moving on from Tobias Harris’ terrible contract, and then focusing on signing a coach.
