The Baltimore Ravens took a major risk in the offseason.
They knew they had to overpay to prevent Odell Beckham Jr. from signing somewhere else, and they offered him as much as three times what he would get with another team.
So far, so good, as GM Eric DeCosta recently admitted that OBJ has exceeded his expectations during training camp.
Nonetheless, Craig Carton believes that’s not much of a surprise.
During Monday’s edition of The Carton Show, he claimed that everybody who has been around OBJ in his career has praised his work ethic, calling him a ‘gym rat’ and stating that he’s always the first guy there and the last one to leave.
Ravens GM on OBJ: "Exceeded my expectations."
"Not surprised. If you know Odell, he's a gym rat. If he's right and healthy, he's a difference-maker. The dude can still play." — @craigcartonlive pic.twitter.com/HNBmXkFif1

He also stated that, when healthy, there’s no doubt that he can make a huge impact, calling him a ‘difference-maker’ who can still play and loves to compete.
OBJ missed the entire last season as he nursed an injury he suffered early in the Super Bowl.
He was on pace to win the Super Bowl MVP award, and his tenure with the Los Angeles Rams, albeit short-lived, proved that he was still a star in this league.
His athleticism and talent — or even his work ethic — have never been put in doubt, but his durability will be a lingering concern for as long as he’s on the field.
He’s endured multiple major injuries throughout the course of his career, and that was the only reason why most teams in the league were hesitant to pay him.
